Simplified Wind Transport Model and Its Application
نویسندگان
چکیده
To estimate the consequences of radionuclide spread during nuclear power plant accidents, atmospheric dispersion simulation models such as Gaussian Plume Model, Lagrangian Trajectory Model are widely used. However, they require a complex set of meteorological data. Yet, the historical data is not consistently available because of the lack of observed meteorological indicators in some situations, such as solar radiation or mixing heights. In this research, a simulation model, namely, Simplified Wind Transport Model that overcomes the limitations of meteorological data is proposed to estimate the spread of radioactive materials based on the widely available historical data of the wind speed and direction. To demonstrate the usefulness and applicability of the proposed model, a typical case of nuclear power plant site in Vietnam is chosen as a case where historical meteorological data is not sufficient. The combination of a thousand of simulations model for the entire weather condition set forms the spatial risk map around nuclear power plant site. The results serve as useful information for the local governments to establish long-term preparedness plans and to nuclear power plant site evaluation. © 2014 Universal Research Publications. NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF WIND PRESSURE COEFFICIENTS ON SCALLOP DOME
The wind loads considerably influence lightweight spatial structures. An example of spatial structures is scallop domes that contain various configurations and forms and the wind impact on a scallop dome is more complex due to its additional curvature. In our work, the wind pressure coefficient (Cp ) on the scallop dome surface is studied numerically and experimentally. Firstly, the programming...

A two-dimensional two-phase numerical model is developed to predict transport and fate of oil slicks which resulted the concentration distribution of oil on the water surface. Two dimensional governing equation of fluid flow which consists mass and momentum conservation was solved using the finite difference method on the structured staggered grid system. The resulted algebric equations were so...

One of the powerful tools in dust storms analysis that have recently found extensive application is atmospheric-chemistry numerical modeling. Spatial and temporal distribution of Middle Eastern dust for a severe dust event during 4-8 July 2009 was analyzed by Weather Research and Forecasting with Chemistry (WRF/Chem) model simulations and remote sensing observations. The HYSPLIT model is applie...
